Today’s Overhead Line Health Monitoring Needs–With Tomorrow’s Smart Grid Capabilities

As the grid gets smarter, so must the sensors.  GridSense provides the only true Line Health Monitor available in the market.  Yes, it performs all of the traditional fault current indicator functions, but it also does so much more, putting it in a category by itself.

Overhead line fault indicator - LineIQIntelligent Overhead Line Health Monitoring up to 138kV

  • Smart adaptive sensing of events, load, voltage and temperatures
  • Intelligent algorithms to provide highly accurate, configuration-free overhead line fault detection
  • Provision of data that allows you to calculate distance to fault to within 200 ft.
  • True voltage measurement enables detection of load imbalance and provides data for volt/VAR reduction
  • Dynamic rating of lines using ambient and conductor temperature readings
  • Tested in accordance with the IEEE 495-2007 standard for faulted circuit indicators

There is no more flexible overhead line health monitoring solution than LineIQ. No other provides advanced fault detection out of the box, and allows you to upgrade to more intelligent monitoring capabilities via simple firmware download.

For utilities, quickly detecting faults, correcting them, and restoring power to customers is paramount. Most fault current indicators show a flag or light upon detecting a fault.  Some provide fault phase and magnitude with a waveform and communications back to SCADA.

LineIQ does more than just fault detection…it performs Line Health Monitoring!

Overhead line monitorLineIQ monitors overhead network lines up to 138kV, letting you quickly determine fault location and cause, and quickly restore power even as you prevent future outages.

At the system’s heart is an innovative, self-powered sensor easily installed on energized lines.  The sensor enables continuous capture of critical performance data, including:

Retrieve data locally or remotely

On your laptop, retrieve data onsite via wireless connection with the GridSense LocalLink (range up to 150ft [50m]).

The GridSense Communications Gateway supports both solicited and unsolicited reporting, and allows wireless, remote data retrieval via cellular, Ethernet, mesh radio, Wi-Fi and more.  Supported messaging protocols include DNP3 and IEC 61850*.

Access Data With Intuitive, Graphical Software Displays

Grid Monitoring SoftwareWith Grid InSite software, view your data in easy-to-analyze graphical and tabular formats that speed diagnosis and issue resolution. Within its clear, intuitive interface, clickable data lets you quickly drill down to identify problems before they damage infrastructure, force downtime, or create outages.
